Strategic Research Programmes

Our mission is to find better ways to predict, prevent and treat obesity, literacy and mental health problems in children and teenagers.

The Challenge has invested in four, internationally peer-reviewed Strategic Research Programmes. Three of the programmes focus directly on obesity, literacy and mental health. The fourth programme Big Data will look at how a big data approach with routinely collected data can define and monitor key indicators to measure New Zealand’s progress in addressing the three health and developmental issues. The Challenge has a further focus on autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs).
